We would just like to take a moment to thank everyone for the overwhelming support shown for Mike Collier and his family today when Mike left harbour for the last time. It was heart-warming to see the support of the local community, Mike’s colleagues at the Coast Guard, his friends at the RNLI Penlee Lifeboat and the support for Maxine by the Red Hatters who gave Mike a lovely round of applause as we passed them at the bottom of Alexandra Road.

Unseen but just as important we would like to thank the children and staff of Oxford Gardens Primary School in North Kensington, London who also took a moment to remember Mike today. Mike very kindly took a number of the people affected by the terrible tragedy that befell the Grenfell Tower families out on his boat the Cormorant when they visited Cornwall.
Finally thank you to Olivier Vergnault and Greg Martin from the Cornishman for helping the family to record the occasion and to Paul Richards from Mousehole for arranging our musical send off and to Elaine Bawden from the Penlee Lifeboat for managing the arrangements for everyone’s attendance in Newlyn this morning.
An online tribute to Mike by Olivier Vergnault is now available at the following link;
